USDA-APHIS Releases Document to Designate Lab-GZESL as Sole Inspector for Asian Gypsy Moth On Vessels

It is learnt recently from the official website of United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) that on March 2, 2011, APHIS updated the Manual for Agricultural Clearance, which clearly stipulates that vessels arriving at US ports from Chinese ports during the period from June 1 through September 30 (High Asia Gypsy Moth Risk Period) without “Certification of Freedom from Asian Gypsy Moth Onboard” will be inspected at US port as suspicious vessel which may carrying Asia Gypsy Moth onboard, while vessels with valid certification will be released after regular inspection. The Document also specifies that vessels from Chinese ports must present certification issued by Lab-GZESL.
